Dubai’s bid to become a technology powerhouse is firmly on track, with the city continuing to attract new investment from the government and the private sector.
Spending on technology has been forecast to reach $20 billion in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 2026, and Dubai will be responsible for a significant proportion of that figure.
To help fuel the growth, Dubai will host several exciting events designed to showcase the burgeoning technology sector in the city. Here is what is in store over the coming months.
GITEX Impact
Scheduled to be staged at the Dubai World Trade Centre in October, GITEX Impact is one of the largest multi-stakeholder technology events of the year.
It will showcase the latest innovations in climate technologies, green finance, sustainable business models, ESG investments and public-private partnerships.
Sectors and synergies featured include artificial intelligence, Web 3.0, blockchain, the Internet of Things, energy transition, sustainable systems and many more.
Over 170,000 people from 176 countries are expected to attend GITEX Impact, highlighting the lure of Dubai as a prospective world-leader in technology.
TECHSPO Dubai
The luxurious five-star Hyatt Regency Dubai Hotel is the venue for TECHSPO Dubai in October – a two-day expo featuring the next generation of advances in technology and innovation.
Internet, mobile, advertising, marketing and software firms will have the opportunity to showcase their businesses to some of the key players in the industry.
The event runs in parallel with the DigiMarCon Middle East, the premier digital marketing, media and advertising conference and exhibition staged in the Middle East.
With exhibitions, keynote speeches, case studies, strategy sessions, networking and more, anyone with an interest in technology cannot afford to miss TECHSPO Dubai.
Expand North Star
With start-ups expected to play a key role in the growth of the technology sector in Dubai, it makes sense for the city to stage an event which allows them to build new connections.
Hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy at the Dubai Harbour in October, Expand North Star will provide a platform for start-ups to cash in on the technology boom in the city.
The revised format will bring together tech leaders, venture capitalists, unicorns, scale-ups, start-ups and key stakeholders for a series of conferences, workshops and more.
The North Star Rising Stage will be the place to be for start-ups eyeing a first step on the ladder, providing them with an opportunity to gain insights from leaders of established tech firms.
SiGMA Eurasia
With the UAE establishing a new licensing and regulatory framework for iGaming, technology companies in the region have a golden opportunity to benefit from the move.
The SiGMA Eurasia expo early next year will provide tech firms with the chance to network with operators of top rated casinos in UAE and sports betting sites.
Attendees will be present from numerous industry segments including online gaming, eSports, affiliates, horse racing, sport franchises and many more.
The event also offers a handful of start-up businesses the opportunity to pitch for a lucrative prize pool that could help them become a major player in the iGaming technology sector.
